Written by Bobby Vasquez. Posted in News

The Deer Park Police Department arrested four students in two separate drug-related incidents at Deer Park High School South Campus

Matt Lucas, DPISD director of communications, said in a written response the arrests "sends a clear message that such behavior will be punished to the extent of the law and school rules."

All four arrests involved juveniles. Arrested were one 15-year-old white female, one 16-year-old black male, one 16-year-old white male and one 16-year-old white female. All four were charged with possession of a controlled substance in Penalty Group 2, which is a felony.

Lucas said the school district received an anonymous tip that led to the arrests on Tuesday.

"In both cases, the school received an anonymous tip that led to arrests, and the District in cooperation with the Deer Park Police Department, responded quickly and appropriately. We give credit to the responsible citizens who placed the anonymous tips that led to these arrests," he said, quoting the written statement.

"It is unfortunate that teens bring illegal drugs to school ... Our highest priority is providing a safe learning environment for our students," the statement concluded.
