During last year’s Texas Legislative session, UHCL was approved for downward expansion, but before the plan went to the Legislature, the university reached out to its community college partners.

"We have been working with UHCL, having lots of conversations," Teri Fowle, associate vice chancellor of marketing for SJC said. "We have been mutually supportive."

UHCL President William Staples spoke with leaders of several area community colleges including Alvin Community College, Lee College and San Jacinto College in 2010 to discuss UHCL's downward expansion and how to continue its partnerships with the surrounding area community colleges.
