Olan Saulter

olOlan Saulter went to fish with the lord on April 30th, 2017. He was married to Cyble Davis on July 27th, 1966. He was born to William David Oscar Saulter and Mary C. Jones on August 4th, 1943.
He was the 9th of 10 children. He was preceded in death by his parents and also his mother and father in law Joe and Mildred Davis who loved him as their own, siblings Willie Dee, Ruby, Fern, Mary and Elvis. He is survived by brother W.D. Saulter and wife Betty, sister Jobretta and husband Earl Curtis, brother Nolan, Sister Yvonne and husband Mike Hollister and sister in law Jean Saulter. He is survived by the “love of his life” of more than 50 years Cyble Davis Saulter, son Ed Saulter, daughter Karen Clem and husband Neil Clem, daughter Kimberly Powers and her husband Bo. Grandsons Travis Haight, Ross Powers wife Cassie, Ryan Clem, Mason Powers, Nolan Saulter wife Alexandria, Nick and Kyle Wooderson and granddaughter Carlye Wooderson. He is survived by brother W.D. Saulter and wife Betty, sister Jobretta and husband Earl Curtis, brother Nolan, Sister Yvonne and husband Mike Hollister and sister in law Jean Saulter. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Lifelong friends Jake and Arlene Guerrero also mourn his passing. Everyone who came to his home could count on two things, fellowship and food. Anyone who came to visit could count on being welcomed with hospitality and love. He was a volunteer for the Deer Park High School booster club and also could be counted on to give umpires plenty of grief when any of his grandsons were playing baseball. He was a coach for his girls’ softball; leaving a positive impact on every girl who played on his team, many who are still family friends to this day. On his off time, Olan loved fishing and hunting and taught his grandsons and many of their friends how to fish in Galveston Bay. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. One person once said if Olan cooked a 4x4 they would eat it, which was a tribute to his cooking abilities. He cooked barbeque for many benefits and other causes through the years and never shied away from the opportunity to help anyone in need. Olan introduced dozen’s of people to the joys of camping on the Guadalupe River at River Road Camp where Sharon and Arlon Mosely welcomed him every year. Olan is joining his boyhood friend Donald Brunson in Heaven where they can relive their fishing trips on the Brazos River and also teach others the “East Waco Shuffle.” Olan was a member of the Deer Park Masonic Lodge since the early ‘70s. Memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, May 5, 2017 at Deer Park First Baptist Church, 438. E. 8th Street, Deer Park. Honorary Pallbearers are as follows: Bo Powers, Neil Clem, Ross Powers, Travis Haight, Mason Powers, Michael “Bubba” Scott, Tom Haight, Tyler Hart, Brett Ogden and Rusty Ybarra. Family will have a visitation at the Church on Thursday from 5:30 PM until 7:00 PM. Family requests donations to the Deer Park First Baptist Church Greater Things in lieu of flowers.
