Charlie Warren Coignard, 87 of Deer Park, Texas formerly of Houston passed away July 19, 2017 after a brief illness. Charlie was born March 9, 1930 to Charles and Isabella Coignard in Houston, Texas.
Charlie began his life after high school working in a dental lab before enlisting in the Army where he was trained as a High-Speed Radio Operator. Upon his discharge from the Army he enrolled and graduated from the University of Houston earning a Drafting Degree. He worked for and retired from GDS Engineering. Upon his retirement, he began his second career in his favorite hobby, golf. He volunteered at the Memorial Golf course until they began renovations. Upon leaving Memorial he started volunteering at Sharpstown Golf Course. He soon was hired to work as a Pro Shop assistant where he worked for 20 years until his last days at the young age of 87. Pawpaw was a beloved Houston Cougar and never missed any of their football games. He was always playing golf, hanging out at the barbershop with his best buds or spending time with family. He is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Patricia Anne Boggess Coignard and granddaughter Kristiana. Charlie is survived by his 3 children; Chuck Coignard and wife Holly, Michael Coignard and wife Cheryl, Michelle Koctar and husband Kevin. Pawpaw also leaves 7 grandchildren; Eric Coignard and wife Elizabeth, Tangie Zymola and husband Jeff, Diane Parrish and husband Matt, David Coignard and wife Jessica, Kasey Koctar and wife Krista, Kelsey Carter and husband Jeremy, Kameron Koctar. Pawpaw also leaves 5 great grandchildren; Arabella Coignard, Makayla Rolfs, Kason Koctar, Shepherd Carter. Pawpaw influenced many people in a positive way and made many friends along the way. There was never a dull moment with his sense of humor and his life will always and forever be remembered in a great way. There will be Graveside service at the Houston National Cemetery on 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas, August 3, 2017 at 10:15 A.M. Pall bearers are Eric Coignard, David Coignard, Kasey Koctar, Kameron Koctar, Doug Randall, Ray Alcala. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to place a Memorial Plaque on the 1st tee box at the Sharpstown Golf Course in Charlie's (Pawpaw) memory.
