Bob passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of November 27th at his home in Pasadena, Texas.
He was the son of Paul and Helen and was born on November 6, 1932 in Monaca, Pennsylvania. He is survived by many that loved him...Nancy, his wife of 18 years, his daughters Stacey, Kim and Denise, step son Johnny and wife Tiffany, 7 grandchildren Teal, Callie, Jacob, Caitlyn, Heather and Bethany and Robert, 5 great grandchildren Diego, Ariel, Willie, Isla and Iker and half-sister Drinda Kiner. He is preceded in death by both of his parents, his wife of 28 ½ years Sally, his son David and half-brother Don Slack. Bob enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1951 and served 2 years of active duty on the USS Scout (AM-296) and 2 years of reserve duty. He was a long-time employee of the original Diamond Shamrock located in Fairport, Ohio, working 2 years in the early 70’s at their location in Wilmington, North Carolina and eventually transferring to their La Porte, Texas location where he retired after 48 years. Bob was an avid sports fan (Go Texans!) and participant, serving as his high school quarterback, bowling for most of his life, playing on baseball teams, umpiring men’s games and his daughter’s soft ball games, golfing every chance he had and coaching a boy’s football team for several years. It was during many of these sports that he met so many of his lifelong friends. Later in life Bob was able to travel quite a bit with his wife Nancy. Even attending Houston Astros training camp in Florida for many seasons. A memorial service for family and friends to celebrate Bob’s life will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, December 30, 2017 at Deer Park Funeral Directors, 336 E. San Augustine, Deer Park, Texas 77536.
