Larry Haass for obitLarry Werner Haass, 87, passed away after a gradual decline in health on Saturday, February 10, 2018, in Pasadena, TX. Larry was born on August 26, 1930, in Devine, TX to Hattie and Paul W. Haass. He was raised on a farm in Devine, TX. He enlisted in the United States Navy in July 1948 and served until July 1953.
Larry married Jeanette Minieri on September 13, 1952, in New London, Connecticut at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church. Larry worked at several different mechanical shops before going to work at Houston Lighting and Power as a machinist/mechanic in 1963. Larry was a member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers – IBEW Local 66, and served on the board of directors for the Credit Union 66.
Larry enjoyed fishing, using his mechanical skills to keep his vehicles in tip-top shape, and visiting with friends. When Larry traveled, he loved to drive for miles and miles especially to visit the northeastern states in the U.S. He was an avid reader, and his comprehension and memory for a wide variety of interesting topics was amazing. After retirement, Larry was a volunteer for the City of Pasadena – Code Enforcement. Larry was a generous man. He will be missed by all.
