A strong start from lefthander Peyton Sherlin cleared the way for the Deer baseball team to score a 7-0 victory over Ridge Point in the first game of the Region III semifinals
Sherlin allowed only four baserunners in seven innings of work – a hit, a walk and a couple of errors – while striking out eight. The senior was nearly untouchable, taking a no-hitter into the sixth inning.

Two innings later, the Deer offense got churning again when Jacobe Martinez grounded into a double play, scoring Martin. The Deer notched a two-out rally in the same inning, when Mitchell came around to score off Blaine Holden’s single.
The score remained 4-0 until the bottom of the sixth. Chase Keng tripled home Conner Berry and Holden. He later came around to score off Aguilar’s double.
