Pee Wee
The Pee Wee Seminoles put a W in the win column in their season opener by beating the Friendswood Colts 20-0. They look to go to 2-0 when they take on the Manvel Texans next week in Deer Park.

Freshman
The Freshman Seminoles opened their season with a big team victory over the Friendswood Colts at the friendly confines of Abshire Stadium. The Seminoles started the game sluggish, but quickly fell into their game by the second possession, scoring on a 51-yard sweep from Haden LaFrenz. The Colts scored on the following possession knotting the score at seven apiece. That was it in the scoring column for the Colts as the Seminole defense ‘ponied’ up for the challenge and kept the Colt offense at bay the rest of the game. Peyton Smith accounted for the next score for the Seminoles in the first half on a 63-yard run, making the score 13-7 at the break. The second half is where the game began to really click for the Freshman Seminoles as they scored 20 unanswered points for a final score of 33-7 in the opener. LaFrenz accounted for three scores on the day followed by another two from Smith. Both backs credit their offensive line for the upfront blocking. Defensively, it was an all-out gang tackling effort, led by Aandon Schroeder. The Freshman Seminoles will work diligently this week in preparation for game two at home against the Manvel Texans.

Sophomore
The Sophomore Seminoles had a rough day on the field by losing their season opener 19-0. They look to rebound this week against the Manvel Texans.

Junior
The Junior Seminoles set out to keep their undefeated streak alive dating back to Aug. 20, of last year. The 2017 season opener matched the defending Super Bowl Champion Seminoles against the Friendswood Colts. The ‘Noles offense wasted no time in finding the end zone as Ayden Salcedo scored from 29-yards out on the opening drive. Kaenan Kiefer hooked up with Talon Sedtal on the two-point conversion to give the Seminoles an 8-0 lead. The Seminoles score again in the second quarter when Kaenan Kiefer ran up the middle for a 3-yards. The ‘Noles went in at halftime with a 14-6 lead. The Seminole defense forced the Colts to turn the ball over on downs to start then second half of play. Salcedo then rattled off a 67-yard touchdown run and Sedtal punched in the extra point conversion to increase the Seminoles lead to 21-6. The Colts manage to score another touchdown in the third quarter to cut the Seminoles’ lead to 9 points. Sedtal put the game out reach when he scampered for a 45-yard touchdown up the middle to make the final score of the game 27-12. The Seminoles look to keep their win streak alive next week as they face the Manvel Texans in Deer Park.

Senior
The Senior Seminoles started off the season by avenging last season’s playoff loss to the Friendswood Colts with a decisive 48-12 win. The ‘Noles were led by Caleb Espinoza who had four carries for four touchdowns and more than 150 yards on the ground. In addition to his work on the ground, Caleb showed off his passing skills with a 30-yard TD throw to Dylan Marbury on a halfback pass. Keenan Lawrence added a rushing touchdown of his own and Caleb Shannon got the defense into the scoring act with a 48-yard fumble return for a TD after his strip of the football. Extra points on the day were added by Zaiden Kiefer on a slant pass to Davin Fulton, and runs from Marbury, Hunter Hudspeth, Reed Mallet and Luke Webb. On the defensive side of the ball, it was a total team effort as 17 different players registered tackles on the day and the Colts found little room to run. The Senior ‘Noles play on at home against next week as they take on the Manvel Texans.
