The Lady Deer volleyball team finished another sweep at home Friday night against Pasadena, winning 25-8, 25-10, 25-14. Deer Park is now 3-0 on the district season as it awaits La Porte Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at the North Campus Gym.

The first set showcased the playmaking ability of both teams, with girls diving for balls to keep points alive as well as the team spiking balls to finish points early.

Deer Park took advantage of the home court’s supportive community.

Lady Deer Head Coach Cortni Cox said Deer fans play a huge part in the team's wins at home by providing a electric atmosphere that ignites the team.

"It's great to have such great fans this year that come out and support us. The girls love it and we get to show the community what we've been working hard all week for,” she said

During the second set, the Lady Deer seemed to get comfortable in the game and played more aggressively, using its offense to take control. Freshman Phoebe Stigen, said the one of the team’s strengths is its offensive attack.

"It's exciting to be able to finish points for my team, and just do my job. We all have jobs and we all do them well so I think that's why we've had so much success,” she said.

The Lady Deer seemed to get a little off track in the beginning of the third set, but steadied themselves and finished strong for the sweep. Although her team is doing well, Cox said that there are still things they can work on to continue to improve their game.

"I think we can definitely communicate better out there, and be a little louder,” she said.
