The Lady Deer basketball team notched another win with 54-36 district victory over Sam Rayburn. Deer Park, now winners of five of its last six overall, will continue District 22-6A play when the team travels to Pasadena Friday night at 7 p.m.

After a rocky start to the season, the Lady Deer basketball team seems to have found its groove. The team opened the 2018 part of its campaign with a 54-36 win over Rayburn at Watkins Gym Tuesday.

Deer Park took a 22-7 first quarter lead and never looked back. The Lady Deer were led by Mkayla Bush’s 18 points and four rebounds and Enriqua Bellow’s 15 points and seven boards. Brittany Tran had 8 points and 6 rebounds as well.

The team as a whole shot 39 percent, but extended possessions with 12 offensive rebounds (30 total), converting them into 16 second chance points.

The Lady Deer have now won five of their last six games, and have a 2-1 record in District 22-6A. Next up is a road game at Pasadena Friday night. Tip off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
