Deer down Eagles, La Porte up next

Another game, another win for Deer Park basketball. The boys team won its 16th straight contest Friday night in a lopsided 61-36 final. Next up for the Deer is a 7 p.m. tilt at home against archrival La Porte. The game will be broadcast on the Deer Network.

The Deer boys basketball team (19-4, 3-0) notched another win with a 61-36 victory over Pasadena at home Friday night.

Tristan Ikpe led the Deer with a game-high 19 points and brought down 7 rebounds while Zach Walker had 12 point and 7 rebounds. Brad Milliorn just missed a double-double with 9 points and 11 boards.

After taking a 15-12 lead at the end of the first quarter, the Deer defense clamped down, holding the Eagles to 8 points in each of the final three quarters. Deer Park outscored Pasadena 46-16 the rest of the way to coast to the win. For the game, the Deer held the Eagles to 25 percent shooting and only 21 total rebounds.

Deer Park’s next game is at home Friday night against La Porte. Tip off at Watkins Gym is scheduled for 7 p.m.
