For the first time in the program’s history, the Deer baseball team is state champions. The Deer fended off Southlake Carroll and San Antonio Reagan to earn Texas high school baseball’s highest prize at the state tournament in Round Rock over the weekend. Four Deer players were also named to the all-state tournament team.

Deer one win away from state title

After a 3-2 victory over Southlake Carroll Friday afternoon, the Deer will play for the state championship Saturday in Round Rock. The state championship game against San Antonio Reagan is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. FOX Sports Southwest will brodacast the game on television. Viewers should check their cable listings for the channel. The game audio will also be broadcast live on the Deer Network and Legacy Sports Network. Go to www.deernetwork.com for a link to the feed.

Bases loaded walk sends Deer to state tournament

For the first time in 27 years the Deer baseball team has clinched a spot in the state baseball tournament with a dramatic extra innings 2-1 walk-off victory over Ft. Bend Travis. Deer Park will play Southlake Carroll in one of two state semifinal matchups at 4 p.m. in Round Rock Friday. The winner will play for the state 6A title Saturday.

Vanderford's walk-off edges Katy in 10

A walk-off double from Sara Vanderford capped off an emotional 4-3 victory for the Lady Deer softball team in 10 innings over Katy. The Game 1 win in the regional final puts Deer Park one victory away from punching their ticket to Austin. Game 2 is today at 5 p.m. at the University of Houston.

The Deer baseball team put an emphatic stamp on the of the Region III semifinal series with a 7-0 Game 1 victory over Ridge Point. Senior lefthander Peyton Sherlin allowed only one hit and one walk, going seven complete shutout innings. Game 2 is tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the University of Houston.

The Lady Deer Softball team is one step away from a trip to the state tournament following a 2-1 series win over Cypress Ranch. Deer Park won games one and three to take the best-of-three series. Up next is Katy High School in the Region 3 finals with the winner heading to Austin.
