The Lady Deer Softball team is one step away from a trip to the state tournament following a 2-1 series win over Cypress Ranch. Deer Park won games one and three to take the best-of-three series. Up next is Katy High School in the Region 3 finals with the winner heading to Austin.

Blake Martin’s two-run double broke a 5-5 tie and sent the Deer baseball team to a 7-5 win and series victory over Pearland to advance in the playoffs This weekend. Deer Park swept the Oilers after taking a 1-0 victory in Game 1. Next up for the Deer is Clear Springs beginning Thursday at 7 p.m. at Rice University.

The Lady Deer softball team continued its playoff march with a two-game sweep over Friendswood. Next up is Kingwood beginning Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at Kingwood. Game 2 of this best-of-three series will be Friday at 6 p.m at Deer Park. If a third game is needed, it will be played after Game 2. Keng's big day lifts Deer over La Porte for district title

Neither rain or gusty winds could dampen the Deer baseball team’s one-game playoff for the district title at La Porte. With the top spot in 22-6A hanging in the balance, Chase Keng collected three hits and eight RBIs to ignite a 17-3 win over the Bulldogs. Next up for the Deer is Summer Creek in the first round of the playoffs.

Browns draft former DP kicker

After completing the most successful kicking career in NCAA history, Arizona State Kicker Zane Gonzalez was drafted in the seventh round by the Cleveland Browns. Gonzalez, a Deer Park High School graduate, was named the Groza Award winner and is the FBS all-time leader in field goals made and points by a kicker.
