A new restaurant, Ocean Seafood & Wings, will soon occupy 3717 Center Street (in the former location of Mooyah Burger).

Somethin’ Sweet Bakery has relocated to 118 Dixie Dr. (formerly the location of Sweet Peas Children’s Boutique and across the street from the post office). Stop by for cupcakes, daily lunch specials, coffee and more.

Chipotle Mexican Grill restaurant is scheduled to open May 13 at 8035 Spencer Highway (next door to 1000 Degrees Pizza).

Murphy USA plans to re-open the gas station in the Walmart parking lot by mid-May. They will offer six different kinds of gasoline at every pump.

Altar’d Market recently remodeled and changed their business hours. They are now open 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, Thursday through Saturday and 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm on Sunday at 122 W. San Augustine. They have also recently opened a second location in Mt. Belvieu.

Planet Fitness is currently under construction at 3601 Center Street in the old H-E-B building (currently being redeveloped into Deer Park Marketplace shopping center at the corner of Center St. and Pasadena Blvd.) Planet Fitness prides itself as being a “judgement free zone”, so even if your legs have never seen a squat machine, you will be cheered on just for showing up. They are known for their low prices, a relaxing environment and friendly employees. Look for their grand opening in late May or June. They will be open 24/7. Until the gym opens, you can find their pre-sale trailer located on-site in the parking lot beginning March 31. The pre-sale trailer will be open to the public 10:00 am to 7:00 pm, Monday – Friday, and 9:00am to 3:00 pm, Saturday and Sunday.

Credeur’s Cajun Cookin’ recently relocated from their Pasadena location to 6915 Spencer Highway, near the corner of Spencer and Glenwood Drive. Owner Barry Credeur is originally from Lake Charles, LA. He and his wife, Tracy, started the restaurant with the goal of providing the best and most authentic Cajun cuisine, and they have succeeded. Everything is made fresh each morning, served cafeteria-style until the food is gone. Stop by soon and enjoy crawfish etoufee, shrimp creole, fried shrimp, smothered porksteaks and much more, but be sure to get there early while the food lasts. They currently serve lunch Monday through Friday from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. During crawfish season, however, they will be open on Saturdays from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm with a crawfish boil and live music out on the patio. Entrepreneurs abound in Deer Park. We have over 500 home-based businesses according to the State Comptroller’s office, which likely contributes to the success of Market Days of Deer Park. Because of Dow Park’s construction, however, this event’s location has changed. Market Days is now held at 1201 Center St., right behind the Maxwell Senior Center. Founded by two Deer Park locals, Becky Geck and Miranda Brown, Market Days gives residents a place to show off their homemade, homegrown or readymade items including food, clothes, jewelry and plants, all while earning extra cash. According to the Houston Association of Realtors, Deer Park ranked #1 on the list for the fastest home sales in 2016, with the average Deer Park home staying on the market only 27.4 days (the Houston average was 60 days). Deer Park homes’ average sales price for 2016 was $198,045.
