The Deer Park Rotary Club honored Deer Park Police Officer Lars Moe as its Officer of the Month for May. Moe, who was hired by DPPD in 2009 was honored for helping rescue an elderly man who was involved in a single-car accident.
For helping a local family spend a few extra days with a loved one involved in an automobile accident before he eventually passed away, Deer Park Police Officer Lars Moe was honored as the Deer Park Rotary Club’s Officer of the Month.
Deer Park Police Chief Greg Grigg and Rotary President Beckie Stockstill-Cobb presented Moe with the award at Wednesday’s club meeting.
In January, two citizens witnessed a vehicle jump a curb and stop off the road near the intersection of East Boulevard and Pasadena Boulevard. The citizens notice the driver is unconscious, so they break the car window and start CPR, said Grigg.
A short time later, Moe drove on the scene and assisted with the CPR until Deer Park EMS arrived.
The victim died a few days later.
“The victim’s family expressed that they were thankful that from Jan. 3-8, they had an opportunity to tell their family member goodbye,” Grigg said. “They were very thankful for these two good citizens and Officer Moe who gave them a few more days.”
Moe is also a field training officer for DPPD and is a defensive tactics instructor. He was recently selected for SWAT and for the detectives bureau.
