Join the Deer Park Parks and Recreation Department for the annual Fourth Fest event, which will feature live music, food, a patriotic decorating contest, a full-scale fireworks show and much more.

The event will be held at the Jimmy Burke Activity Center, located at 500 W. 13th Street, beginning at 5 p.m., with the fireworks show scheduled for 9:15 p.m.

“We are so excited to invite the entire community to attend this year’s Fourth Fest celebration,” said Rene McBride, Recreation Supervisor.

“Not only do we have two incredible bands – Ryan Harris and the Killin’ Time Band from 5-7 p.m. and Flashpoint at 7 p.m. and 9:45 p.m. – but we also have new, family-friendly features added to our event.

“This year, we are introducing Bean Bag Baseball, a chance for participants of all ages to play four-inning games on teams of eight to 10 people. The first game starts at 5PM, and teams will be drafted on a first-come, first-served basis.”

Don’t forget your cameras! The full-scale fireworks show will begin at approximately 9:15 p.m., and all attendees are encouraged to post their best photos to social media with #DPFireworks! Attendees are also encouraged to decorate their fireworks viewing areas and vehicles with patriotic items for the chance to win a special prize.

As a special feature of the Fourth Fest event, descendants of Simeon West – the City’s founder – will be in attendance for a special meet and greet session at Jimmy Burke at 3 p.m.

“We are so honored to announce that five of West’s great-great-grandchildren will be coming down in July to take part in our 125th anniversary festivities, get to know more about Deer Park and participate in Fourth Fest,” City Council member Sherry Garrison said. “We want to encourage all of our residents to take advantage of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to get to know the family of the man who established Deer Park.”
