Within every community there are businesses and industrial sites that make the extra steps to improve their local area. In November, the Deer Park Chamber of Commerce will honor two local entities at the Business and Industry of the Year luncheon. Nominations for the award are due at the Chamber office Sept. 29.

The Deer Park Chamber of Commerce is asking the public to identify a business and local industry that goes out of their way to benefit the community. Criteria is based on exemplary business leadership; civic and community service; employee relations; and contributions to their respective industry.

The annual Business and Industry of the Year luncheon is Nov. 14, and the Chamber will announce its selections for the award.

"Over the years, it's been a good assortment of small businesses that have won the Business of the Year award," said Chamber CEO Tim Culp. "All of these businesses have made an impact on the community and its residents while building outstanding relationships with their employees and fellow businesses."

"The same goes for industries," Culp said. "Our local industry is vital to our region, whether it’s the refineries up and down 225 or the businesses that are in our industrial districts. It’s no secret that importance of the role they play in our community as far as their services and bringing jobs to the region."

Nominations for the Business of the Year are available at the Chamber's website by clicking here. The deadline is Sept. 29.

Over the years, various producers and vendors goods and services have been represented as the Business and Industry of the Year. Last year’s Business of the Year recipient was La Quinta Inn & Suites while Shell Deer Park was celebrated as the Industry of the Year.

"They all employ Deer Park residents and choose to make our community where they do business. They have chosen to participate in special events and help non-profit organizations in our community to make it better," Culp said. "The businesses that have received the award do a lot for Deer Park aside from their day-to-day operations.
