One of Deer Park's oldest and most beloved Christmas traditions is set for Dec. 13-16 when the Deer Park Volunteer Fire Department presents Santa Around Town. DPVFD has released Santa's schedule as he tours Deer Park.

The holidays in Deer Park are steeped in tradition. Santa Around Town, one of the city's oldest and most beloved Christmastime traditions is right around the corner.

For more than 30 years, the Deer Park Volunteer Fire Department has personally escorted Santa through the streets of the city to visit and wave to children and families in the community. This year's Santa Around Town is Dec. 13-16. Santa's tour around the city will begin at about 6 p.m. and lasts for about three hours each night.

Residents can find what night Santa will visit their street or the nearest passable street by clicking here. If there's bad weather, the make-up night is scheduled for Dec. 17.

Santa's sleigh will be mounted on a trailer and pulled through the streets of Deer Park. Like years past, the sleigh will be lit and Santa will throw small presents. His little helpers who made the trip from the North Pole will throw candy while holiday favorites announce his presence.

The tradition has grown to the point where families plan their Christmas parties around the night Santa is scheduled to visit their neighborhood.

DPVFD recommend residents and their guests to limit their street parking and try not to park vehicles directly across from each other on the streets. Doing so will make Santa's tour much easier.

Also, keeping cul-du-sacs clear will also make it easier for Santa to get up and down streets. More information can be found on the fire department’s Facebook page.
