Deer Park Public Library introduces new teen program

Written by staff. Posted in Community

Whether or not a reader has a Valentine's Day, they can always go out on a “blind date” with a new book from Deer Park Public Library. This month teens can stop by the library and check out the new Teen Blind Date with a Book Display. The program is based off the continuing Adult Blind Date with a Book program, but is aimed at younger readers. The books available for this program are found in the library's teen area.

The library has wrapped all display books and teens can select their “date” based on the description of the book only. After the teens take the book “date” home, they can read it, rate it and return the book. However, the library does not allow peeking before checking out the book.

Inside each book is a Rate Your Date form to let the library know what the reader thinks. Each form turned in is an entry to win a Dinner and a Movie prize drawing at the end of the month, consisting of gift cards to a local restaurant and movie theater.

The Blind Date with a Book program can help teens find new favorite books.

Future readers can stop by the library located at 3009 Center St. For more information, call 281-478-7208.
