Library's Blind Date with a Book returns

Written by staff. Posted in Community

With Valentine’s Day coming up, love is in the air and to celebrate, the Deer Park Public Library is offering readers the opportunity to go on “blind dates.” During February, the library is hosting a Blind Date with a Book program which gives readers the opportunity to find new titles or authors that they will enjoy.

Readers who choose to participate, will not know the identity of the “blind date” book until they get home. This is because the library wrapped the book and only listed generalities on it. At that point, it is up to the reader to choose a “blind date” book, take it home, read it and return the Rate Your Date form to let the library know how it turned out.

Hopefully the readers will find a great book, but even if they do not, all is not lost. With each form returned, the reader is entered to win a Dinner and a Movie prize drawing, which consists of gift cards to a local restaurant and movie theater.

The library is also hosting a Teen Blind Date with a Book program. Teens are now able to participate along with the adults in this special reading challenge, with their own display and collection of books, located in the “Teen Area” of the library.

Readers can stop by the library located at 3009 Center St., or for more information they can call the library at 281-478-7208.
