City to resume curbside garbage pick up

Written by Staff. Posted in News

Citizen advisory: The City of Deer Park will resume curbside garbage pick-up beginning tomorrow (Friday, September 1) and Saturday (September 2). All garbage must be placed curbside by 8AM for pickup.

According to Sanitation Supervisor Ben Alexander, customers whose garbage is typically collected on Fridays will have their items picked up tomorrow, Friday.

Customers whose garbage is typically collected on Thursdays will have their items picked up Saturday.

“We are pleased to announce that we will be able to resume curbside garbage pick-up starting tomorrow morning,” City Manager Jay Stokes said. “By conducting garbage pick-up both Friday and Saturday, we will be able to reach all of our curbside garbage customers.

“Our regular garbage pick-up schedule will resume on Monday, September 4 (Labor Day). We sincerely appreciate our community being patient with us as we get back on track following Harvey.”

Alexander said the Sanitation Division will also continue collecting flood debris and heavy trash on Friday and Saturday, asking only that the two types of waste be physically separated.

Pick-up of flood debris and heavy trash will also continue next week, Monday through Friday.

“There is no limit on the number of bags residents may place curbside tomorrow and Saturday,” Alexander said. “We are going to work with our citizens to collect as much curbside garbage and flood debris as we can over the next two days, and we will be working to collect both types of waste again on Monday morning and through that week.

"We will continue picking up heavy trash and flood debris every weekday going forward until there is no more to remove."

Alexander advised that the Transfer Station will not be open on Saturday for garbage drop-off.
