Tuesday's council agenda set

Deer Park City Council will hold a meeting before and after National Night Out Tuesday evening. After a 5:30 p.m. meeting, council will adjourn to participate with citizens in National Night Out. At 7:30 p.m., council will return to the dais for a second meeting.

The first of two Deer Park City Council meetings will begin at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall for a public hearing regarding the tax rate.

Following this meeting, council will join citizens across the community participating in National Night Out festivities.

At 7:30 p.m., council will begin a second meeting at a City Hall.

During this meeting, council will take action on an agreement with Texas Department of Public Safety for construction, maintenance, and operations of safety lighting systems on State Hwy 225 from Beltway 8 eastward to Battleground Road; and the purchase from Vaught Services, LLC, through the The Interlocal Purchasing System to perform the rehabilitation of a 24-inch Storm Sewer Line on Eastwind Drive.

Also, council will take action on a referral to the Planning and Zoning Commission to request amending the zoning ordinance to allow heliports or helistops as an accessory use for medical facilities in commercial districts via a specific use permit.

In other business, council will also take action on ordinances appointing four persons to each of the Crime Control and Prevention District; the Fire Control, Prevention and Emergency Medical Services District; and the Deer Park Community Development Corporation.

The names submitted to the CCPD are Ray Landers, George Pinder, Craig O’Sullivan and Diana Taylor. For the FCPEMSD, the members are Charlie Johnson, Greg Bridges, John Green and Eddie Brashier. For the DPCDC, the persons are Sue Mauk, Scott Sotello, Doug Burgess and Georgette Ford.

Each of the persons listed is appointed for two-year terms, pending council approval.
