Council approves all items at 2018's first meeting

Deer Park City Council unanimously passed all items on its agenda at Tuesday’s regular meeting. During the meeting, council approved a zoning amendment for allow heliport and helistops for medical facilities in the city.

At 2018’s first regularly scheduled council meeting Tuesday, Deer Park City Council unanimously approved all items on its agenda.

The meeting opened with a joint public hearing with Council and the Planning and Zoning Commission regarding a request of the city of Deer Park to amend the Code of Ordinance Appendix A- Zoning, Section 14.02 to allow Heliports or Helistops as an accessory use for medical facilities in the General Commercial Zoning District.

No one came forth to speak for or against the measure, and it was approved later in the meeting.

Council also approved the purchase of field lighting and installation and shade structures for the soccer development and girls softball complex.

Also, council approved a resolution to seek a STEP Traffic Enforcement grant; a recommendation from the Planning and Zoning Commission and a proposed ordinance on the request of Sanwood Investments for a Specific Use Permit to construct a bulk warehouse at 4600 Underwood Rd.; and change orders to the contract with South Pools for the Dow Park Pavilion Project.

In other business, council also unanimously an ordinance granting a pipeline franchise to FLST LLC for a 16-inch Ethane Pipeline; amendments to the budget; the replacement of hydraulic hoses on a public works bucket truck; and the purchase of materials and installation to complete the Dow Park Pavilion and Improvement Project.
