A strong defensive effort from the Lady Deer soccer team was rewarded with a 1-0 win Friday against Dobie.

Deer Park freshman Natalie McDonald’s goal proved to be enough to preserve the district victory. The rest of the game was decided by Deer Park's strong back line, who kept their goalie comfortable by keeping Dobie's offense at bay.

Head Coach Jesse Saavedra said he is proud of how his young team is developing; and he has good reason to be as Deer Park is undefeated in district.

"While these girls are young, they've really worked well with our older girls and made a strong team. Tonight was Natalie's first start for us, and she scored a goal. All of our freshman and sophomores have really stepped into their roles on offense and defense and help this team be successful,” he said.

The Lady Deer will travel on Tuesday to play Pasadena Memorial.
