Deer hook Longhorns with 17-point rally

Two fourth quarter touchdowns and a safety erased a 14-point deficit as the Deer Park Deer football team defeated the Dobie Longhorns 24-21 at Veterans Memorial Stadium Saturday.

Doggone: Deer Park defeats La Porte, extends streak to 6

The Deer Park volleyball team avenged one of its two district losses Friday, sweeping La Porte at home. With the 25-18, 25-23, 25-18 victory, Deer Park's 22-5A record is now 7-2 and 28-6 overall

Haley Mueller led the Deer with 11 kills over the match. Deer Park has won its last six matches, five coming via sweeps. Their next match is against Pasadena Dobie, the only other team to defeat them in district play. That match is Tuesday at the North Campus at 6:30 p.m.

Another match, another win for Deer Park volleyball

The Deer Park High School volleyball team rides a five-match winning streak after sweeping South Houston Tuesday night. The 25-10, 25-10, 25-12 victory raises the team's record to 27-6 and 6-2 in 22-5A play. Tyler Jenkins and Terra Peil led the team with eight kills each.
 
Deer Park's next match is Friday night at the North Campus against archrival La Porte. The Bulldogs handed the Deer one of their two district losses at La Porte last month. In that match, the Deer were quickly set down the first two games before winning the third. They dropped the fourth game and match with a heartbreaking 30-28 loss.

 

Deer Park's second chance at La Porte starts at 6:30 p.m.

Elite star heading to Ecuador

Thirteen-year-old Cole Bedford of Deer Park is turning heads across the United States with his pitching performances. Ranked the top player in the Houston area by www.juicybaseball.com, Cole has been selected to travel to Ecuador later this week for the 2009 COPABE PanAmerican 14U Championships. Bedford is one of 18 American players to be selected for the trip out of a pool of 24 teen prospects.

The 6-foot righthander is the son of Chris Bedford and the grandson of Tom and George Ann Bedford, all of Deer Park.

Deer volleyball keeps rolling, sweeps Pasadena Memorial

After knocking off previously district unbeaten Pearland, the Deer Park volleyball team did not let up, sweeping the Memorial Mavericks 3-0 at the North Campus.

Tyler Jenkins led the Deer with 11 kills as the Deer won 25-19, 25-19 and 25-18. Deer Park, winners of their last four District 22-5A matches, raises its record to 26-6 (5-2). Their next match is Tuesday on the road at South Houston on Tuesday.
