Deer Park City Council unanimously approved all items on its agenda at its Tuesday meeting. The agenda included items related to the Maxwell Center Expansion, the Soccer Complex and the Girls Softball facility; and a resolution denying CenterPoint Energy Resources’ statement of intent to increase rates.

Deer Park City Council’s next regular workshop and meeting will be April 4 at City Hall, 710 E. San Augustine. The workshop begins at 6:30 p.m., with the agenda meeting at 7:30 p.m. During the meeting, council will take action on a resolution fighting against proposed higher rates from CenterPoint Energy.

P&Z public hearing over convenience store on Luella set for Monday

The announcement of a rezoning request from Single Family-1 to General Commercial has raised concerns for residents throughout the city. The request involves  land at the southwest corner of Luella and Pasadena Boulevard being converted to a convenience store. A public hearing on the matter with the Planning and Zoning Commission is scheduled for 7 p.m. April 3 at City Hall.

City officials take the stage at An Evening With Simeon West

The play, which celebrates the city's 125th birthday, features several city elected officials, administrators and community members in starring roles. The show runs April 5-6 and admission is free. However, reservations must be made.

Lubrizol breaks ground on new PIB unit

lubrizol20logoThe Lubrizol Corporation announces that in conjunction with its previously announced technology license agreement with Daelim Industrial, it has begun construction of a new polyisobutylene (PIB) unit at its Deer Park, Texas facility. Construction of this unit is consistent with Lubrizol continuing to renew its additive infrastructure as part of the company’s previously announced 10-year phased investment plan. The plan is designed to upgrade and enhance Lubrizol’s global capabilities.
