Signage, illegal turn solutions on council agenda

Deer Park City Council will discuss signage at the Community Center relating to carrying handguns on the premises as well as possible solutions to illegal turns at the intersection of Railroad Street and Center. The workshop begins at 6:45 p.m., with the council meeting to follow at 7:30 p.m.

Brown MicahU.S. Air Force Airman Micah N. Brown graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas.

The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training also earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Brown is the son of Judith Brown of Pasadena, and James Brown of New Braunfels, and grandson of Patrica and Larry Gehret of Pasadena.

He graduated in 2015 from Clear Lake Christian School, Clear Lake, Texas.

The city of Deer Park officially broke ground on a new city hall facility Tuesday prior to the city council workshop and meeting. Construction, which began immediately, will take just over a year to complete. The new city hall building will be constructed east of the current facility

Watkins announced her retirement earlier this month as she battles an illness. Although she said she is retiring sooner than she wanted, she is grateful to have worked for the city.
