City announces space-naming opportunities for new Animal Shelter

Are you interested in leaving your “paw print” on the new Deer Park Animal Shelter and Adoption Center? You’re in luck!

In early 2017, the Deer Park City Council approved a set of space-naming opportunities for features of the facility, which is expected to be complete by the first quarter of 2018. This week, brochures outlining the available donation levels will be distributed citywide.

“Aligning with our commitment to invest in City infrastructure, we will soon begin construction on a new, 7,487 square foot Deer Park Animal Shelter and Adoption Center, which will better serve both the citizens and the pets of our community,” Mayor Jerry Mouton said. “Once construction begins, we anticipate our new shelter – to be located adjacent to the current facility at 4213 Luella - will be completed in approximately 10 months.

During its recent workshop, Deer Park City Council discussed possible solutions to illegal turns from Railroad Avenue onto Center Street that have repeatedly damaged medians and the Gateway Monument. Council also unanimously passed all items on its agenda.
